The summer camp we are teaching now is absolutely enjoyable. So many kids are eager to learn English and to participate and have fun.
My name is Jeff. I’m a teacher at Liangfeng Senior Middle School in Zhangjiagang.I’m originally from the United States.I was born in Chicago and also living in Los Angelas.
I am having a lot of fun working with kids at the summer camp. Working with high school during the normal school here was great. There is something just about the exuberance of these young kids.So much fun to work with. Get the chance to be around these kids. It’s really reinvigorated. And it’s kind of rejuvenate.

Can you tell us more about one subject you teach? What can students learn from the subject?
One of my class is culture class. I decided that one thing is common to children the world over is animation cartoons. So I decided what I want to do was to exposure these Chinese kids to some of the classic American cartoons going all the way back to Mickey Mouse,Bugs Bunny. All way to today’s SpongeBob SquarePants.I put together the video and showing them all of the different cartoons that are popular to the years .Then, I challenge them to use their own imaginations to create their own cartoon characters.
This year, we have so many students. We are all very excited that they are here.I teach English speaking, reading and culture classes. Students can learn a lot to improve their English speaking and reading with great games and activities .
One of the subject I teach is dubbing. What we will do is to watch short TV shows called Mölang. In Mölang, the characters don’t speak. They make some noise. So when we do it, we will watch the full episode with children. And we go back and look at the children thinking what’s happening of the TV show. Afterwards,we will create. We will choose what the characters are saying and what we think the characters are saying. We will watch the episode one more time. The children will read the dialogue or say the dialogue as we are dubbing. The children are quite enjoying this, so i am looking forward to doing more dubbing subjects.
I enjoy teaching many things. But if i would choose the favorite, it’s definitely the science. I love my stem classes. I hope my students can see my excitement.
I keep telling them when I was their age, I tried to make volcanos and do all these wild things. Also , when I was a student in primary school at their age. We did many activities that nobody could explain what science is. So I hope my students would understand that science is a way of learning the world around us. I try to do very practical things that they might be interested in doing at home. Hopefully, what they learned most of all is to stay curious and keep learning.
