Hi, I'm Michelle. I'm from Malaysia and I currently teach here at ZJGLFIS. This is my first time being involved in a summer camp. It's interesting to meet so many students from different schools. They are adorable, but they have so much energy! I can't keep up, sometimes!
I teach English, mostly speaking and listening. I also do dubbing and drama with them. I hope they will be able to gain better confidence speaking in English and be able to expand their English vocabulary.
Hi. My name is Rocky and I am from South Africa. I've been in China for 9 years.
This summer camp has been a wonderful experience. My 3rd grade students are very enthusiastic about learning English and for that reason it has been a pleasure teaching them.
One of the classes that I teach is English (both oral and listening). I show the students videos and presentations, as well as play word games to boost their vocabulary and word recognition. Thereafter I engage in dialogue with them until they can understand and answer questions without my assistance.
My students are learning more about speaking English with better grammar and I've noticed that even the shy ones are gaining a little more confidence as the summer camp continues.
Hello my name is teacher Bastian. I’m teaching PE, STEM and Drama. The summer camp is a lot of fun and the kids are awesome.
I think that PE is a very important subject for kids to have. Not only can they get active, they also learn to work together as a team, follow rules and hopefully find a sport they’ll like.
Hello, My name is Anja, I am from South Africa.
I have mostly been teaching the Berkley class for this summer camp. The kids are enthusiastic. They are hard workers and they are so much fun to teach. I am enjoying the camp very much.
The subject I look forward to teaching most (tomorrow is my first class) is drama. I think when learning a foreign language, we are often shy to fully express ourselves. I hope that with drama I can teach the kids not only to use their faces and emotions when expressing themselves in English, but also to help them to be more confident and self assured.
Hi! I'm Ryan from California! This year will be my fifth year teaching English and living in China. I feel grateful to teach and have fun with such enthusiastic students.
Even though Science and P.E. are great, I love teaching English the most. When I teach science or P.E., I like to tie in a short story from children's books or a song that teaches English. In my class, students learn to use and pronounce key vocabulary, grammar, and phrases. Most importantly though, they learn that studying English can be lively and delightful!
Hello my name is Julio. I’m from California USA. I’m excited to be here at summer camp and be able to have fun and help improve the English of the students.
The subjects I will be teaching at summer camp are English, culture, and drama. I’m hoping students will have a better understanding of English through my English reading course. They will learn about a story, learn new vocabulary, and be creative by drawing one of the characters of from the story.
My name is Michael Buxton. I come from South Africa. I am 25 years old and have been teaching in China for two years.
Week one of the summer camp at LFIS has been an interesting experience as i have been working with active and energetic students. The school has done well in organizing the camp and helping the teachers get comfortable with the students. It is tiring but its a fun and valuable experience.
One of the subjects im teaching and enjoy the most is STEM. In the classes i have already taught for stem, we have made straw bridges. The students get to learn how to work as a team and communicate as a group. They also get to experience PBL(Project based learning). The students lean a lot of new words and information about bridges. the students also learn how to take their ideas and bring them into reality with the design process. Its an exciting class and interesting to see how the students work together and build their bridges.
